Cole Pulice: Beyond the Frame

“I used a new setup/system/process for this, which started as an aimless experiment where I was tinkering with contact mics on the body of the horn and inside the bell. I’m pitch shifting the clacks of the saxophone keys and resonance of the saxophone itself, and sending that signal through tunable resonators, which then is going through a dynamic sampler that reacts to the intensity and velocity of the incoming sounds. Different sets of keys and octaves have slightly different responses . . . it’s really fun to workshop, and I’m stoked for y’all to hear it!”
